Description: This is an exquisite & rare find. Though still unidentified, the specific maker is known for producing pieces in Matilde Poulats style and over the years I have had a few of them pass through my hands. They date in the pre-1948 period and are in excellent vintage condition with beautiful patina, gorgeous color in the stones, a fun, playful design and no damage or repairs noted. Fully hallmarked according to pre-1948 practices it bears its makers initials 'ECB' in a circle formed by 'HECHO EN MEXICO STERLING' there is also an additional '925' stamp. would date the piece to no earlier than 1980. The MS-12 registry number, which is assigned to Ricardo Salas. They are not hallmarked for metal quality yet have been tested and are guaranteed to be sterling silver. She apparently used both the script and block letters during the same time period. Measuring 1 7/8" long by 1" wide the earrings weigh 19.6 grams (for the set) and are signed "Matl" in script on an applied rectangular tab. All tell-tale characteristics of Matl's creativity are here though: the silver has a hand-hammered texture, the wire-work with its tiny beading surrounds the vase like an undulating silk ribbon, there are small round dangles hanging off each earring's bottom and, last but not least, we have intense splashes of color from the coral and turquoise cabochons.
